Conference 2005 was an unqualified success!

The 24th Annual Light of Christ Community Church Homecoming and Conference was full of fun, fellowship, and festivities.  Some highlights were

the presentations made by the five Directors of the Sophia Schools of Wisdom. Sally Bunce, Regina Cross, Nancy Kelly, Rebecca Nagy and Tom Simota inspired us during the Board of Governors’ meeting and later in Fellowship Hall with their displays of wonderful classes and activities they offer people in their areas

the retirement salute to co-pastors Carol Parrish and Marjorie Stuth where a plaque was presented with their names as the first two pastors of Light of Christ.The plaque has plenty of room for names of ministers who follow in those two very large pair of shoes.

Moving Money for Social Change: Funds for Small Non-Profits”, where Peg Rosenkrands discussed the role of respect, intention, results, and ritual in fundraising, and encouraged us all to align our money with our values.
 
Rev. Katherine James’ powerful power point presentation comparing scientific and spiritual stages of dying. Based on her Masters thesis, this information enables hospital and hospice workers to better assess a patient’s care.

walking through the partially finished Villa. It looked so warm and inviting, we could easily envision its important role in the future of our campus.

the Tribute to New Orleans Jazz Concert where Bill Dunn and Rev. Roberta Wilkes and friends caught us up in their love and admiration for the music of that great city.

the Sophia Sell-a-Bration, which thanks to people who donated (or purchased!) items for the gems and treasures tables and the auction, raised $4, 971 for the seminary.

Dr. Michael Robbins and his wife, Tuija, who kept us on the edge of our chairs as we participated in every one of Hercules’ twelve great labors and learned how we each can triumphantly live the Archetypal Life.

Plans have already begun for the 25th Annual Conference, Nov. 6-12, 2006.  This will be a grand reunion and celebration of our lives together these past 25 years. We hope you will join us.
