The 25th Annual Light of Christ Community Church Homecoming and Conference was full of fun, fellowship, and festivities. Some highlights were:
- the presentations made by the five Directors of the Sophia Schools of Wisdom. Lillian Abildgaard, Sally Bunce, Regina Cross, Nancy Kelly, and Tom Simota inspired us during the Board of Governors’ meeting and later in Fellowship Hall with their displays of wonderful classes and activities they offer people in their areas.
- the Friends of Sancta Sophia Seminary were honored at a reception, and all the good work they accomplished in 2006 was highlighted.
- the annual Blessing for Ministers and Teachers was as beautiful and touching as ever, and we were honored to wear the little dolls made by survivors of the tsunami, which Rev. Parrish purchased as an world aid donation.
- Magical Moods of Music featuring Bill Dunn, Rev. Roberta Wilkes and friends, was a wonderful evening of great music and moon struck fun.
- the annual Alumni Association meeting was full of laughter and warm memories as graduates joined their classmates for group pictures and stories of days gone by. Clever picture collages from each five-year period of the school’s history truly made this a special 25 Year Reunion.
- Friday night’s Karaoke Coffee House, with all the goodies to eat and drink, brought back the traditional talent show with a modern twist. Some attendees are already planning their acts for next year’s conference!
- Sancta Sophia’s Annual Graduation served as a perfect reminder of the Seminary’s standards and goals as new graduates go out into the world to do holy work (and as Associate Dean Dr. Nancy Kelly reminded us, sometimes the work takes a while to find us.)
- Dr. Robert Gilbert’s fantastic workshop presented the breadth and depth of Sacred Geometry: The Sacred Pattern of Creation, in a manner that made this extensive subject feel familiar to us by helping to “connect the dots” in many areas of spirituality. Visit his website www.vesica.org to learn more.
- Plans have already begun for the 26th Annual Conference, Nov. 5-11, 2007. It warms the heart and touches the funny bone when we all gather as family. We hope you will plan to join us on the mountain next year.
